The Board & Team

Roger is a semi-retired Anglican Minister in Killara and East Lindfield, Sydney. He is married to Sue and they have four adult children and ten grandchildren.  Roger was one of the founding board members of HART Australasia, having been inspired about the work of our Founder, Baroness Caroline Cox, through reading her biography. Roger has been actively involved in overseas mission and relief work over many years. Among his roles, he has been the State and National Chairman of the Bible Society. He has been Chairman of HART Australasia since 2011 during which time Roger has had opportunity to visit our Partners.

Martin was born in the U.K. and has both Australian and British nationalities. He married Sally in 1971 and they have 3 children, Rachel, Juliet and Nathaniel. With a long and successful career in both Medicine and humanitarian work around the world, Martin has received many awards over the years. The most recent was the Prime Minister’s Centenary Medal – Citation “For outstanding service to Medicine and the Community”. He was also presented the ’Peacekeepers award’ for helping to promote peace and reconstruction in East Timor. co-founded HART Australasia and was Chairman of the Board from 2009-2010.He has worked since 2009 as a locum doctor in emergency departments all over Australia, along with regular humanitarian activities including in East Timor, Myanmar and Uganda. He has an academic appointment at James Cook University Medical School, and was the Global Medical Director for the Australian Government- Department of Immigration and Multicultural Affairs from 2005-2006.With his great experience and amazing energy Martin continues as an active Director of this organisation.

Michael Abrahams retired from the Australian Trade Commission (Austrade) in 2013 after 41 years of service with this and related organisations. This included 26 years overseas as a Trade Commissioner representing the Australian Government’s trade and investment promotion interests and assisting Australian companies take advantage of commercial opportunities in a wide variety of markets.His educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Commerce with a marketing major from the University of New South Wales. Michael has also undertaken management programs at the Australian Graduate School of Management and Macquarie University’s Graduate School of Management.Michael was born in Lautoka, Fiji and is married to Rosemary.  They have two grown married children, Sara and Mark and four grandchildren. Michael was raised in a Christian family and has served in many different roles in churches both in Australia and overseas. He joined the HART Australasia Board in 2014.

Paul Nettelbeck originally built a career in the technology sector with IBM and Hewlett Packard Asia wide, spending some years based in Tokyo. He is now working in the not-for-profit sector where is has been based in Sydney since 2010, having moved from Victoria. Both in technology and education, he has specialised in managing people, digital communications and commercial marketing. As a child, he spent 10 years in East Africa, where his father was Headmaster of an international school.  Married to Wendy, they have university aged children who all enjoy the outdoors, surf life-saving, travel and keeping fit.  With a strong interest in international affairs and global politics, he completed two Masters degrees in International Relations and Journalism at Monash University, after his earlier undergraduate studies in commerce.  He strongly believes in, and actively supports the inspiring vision of Baroness Cox. Aid and Advocacy, for those who don’t have a voice or a vote and suffer for so many reasons, is the responsibility of each one of us.

Rosemary is an educator and administrator with a wealth of experience both internationally (Nigeria, Germany, Thailand and Indonesia) and in Australia (Melbourne and Sydney.)  On her return from overseas in 2004 she was appointed Deputy Head and Head of Senior School at Abbotsleigh School for Girls, a position she held for eight years before retiring at the end of the 2012 school year.  In 2013 she was invited to join the Council of The King’s School, Australia’s oldest independent boys’ school, as a Governor and has for the past five years been its Chair.  Rosemary is a member of several Boards and Committees and the Executive Director of HART Australasia, an organisation that aligns with her Christian values and is commited to helping, those with little or no voice, overcome poverty and persecution.
